Video Sneak Peek of the Kauffman Performing Arts Center

It started as an idea on a napkin. Now 11 years later, the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts holds it’s first performances tonight. Designed by internationally renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the Kauffman Center cost $413 million dollars and sits on 18 acres in the heart of Kansas City connecting the downtown loop to the Crossroads Arts District. Inside are two venues, the 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall and the 1,800-seat Muriel Kauffman Theatre (one for concerts, the other for theatre).

Tonight’s opening performance is sold out, but no need to wait until Sunday’s free Open House to get a tour of the new digs. Working for Digital Evolution Group has it’s perks. My friend/colleague Ramsey and I were given a private tour from our friends at Encore—and we shot this video sneak peak of the Kauffman Center. This project was a blast and the new center is beautiful! Ramsey also took a few panoramic photos (photo 1 and photo 2) with his iPhone using this sweet app called 360 Panorama. Enjoy!
